Research Overview

Our group focuses on the design, synthesis & characterization of advanced molecular sieve materials for highly-efficient liquid/gas separations. At the current, we primarily focus on the design & synthesis of microporous crystalline zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) & hybrid ZIF adsorbents/membranes. Beyond material synthesis, we also focus on the development of synthetic protocol to deposit ZIF layers on porous substrates & later package them into practical modules.

Our ultimate goal is to fabricate high performance polycrystalline membranes with reasonably long membrane lifetime & stable performances under realistic feed gas conditions. We hope that the membrane eventually find its way to a commercial market.
